The Swiss National Park Data Center (SNPDC) is the internet platform for the Geographical Information System for the Swiss National Park (GIS-SNP). The SNPDC is basically a meta-metadata system with several add-ons which contribute to the understanding of the data. The GIS-SNP started in 1992 at the Department of Geography of the University of Zurich. Today it is maintained at the Swiss National Park Center in Zernez and the PARCS Basel branch, collaborating with the Geographical Information System for the 'Wildnispark Zürich' (former Sihlwald Forest Reserve, GIS/WPZ) and the Swiss Parks Network.
