Welcome to the PARCS Data Center, the information service about Geographical Information for the Swiss Parks Network and related scientific and project information.

This platform integrates information about projects, publications and geographical data sources in the Swiss Parks. Links are provided between different sources to enable searching for related information in an easy way: The "common" way of searching for information in publications is enhanced by related metadata information for geographical data and their origin in projects and institutions.

The database is under constant development. The team does not take any responsibilty for the completeness of the information, but warmly welcomes contributions not yet integrated into the system.

Other data centers Several parks maintain their own data center information system at the following locations. Their data can also be incorporated in the current queries using the 'Add Data Centers' option on the top right of this page.

Project lists (work in progress) The Swiss Park Research coordination maintains a list of research projects and corresponding publications for the following parks. Their data can also be incorporated in the current queries using the 'Include Associate Datacenters' option on the top right of this page.

Project lists from unsuccessful park projects Several park projects have been abandonned and were not successful in establishing a park. Nevertheless several research projects were carried out during the planning phase and are referenced here for documentation purposes.

National Parks Austria In 2013 the National Parks Austria started using the system for their own services. The individual systems can be reached at www.parcs.at. If you wish to perform queries containing information from all systems throughout Swiss and Austrian Parks, you can go to http://parcs.network/.
